For finding the **place value of a digit** in any given number, we have a simple formula.

Place value of any digit = the product of face value of the digit and the value of that digit in the place value chart.

Examples:

In the number 9243, the place value of 2 is 2 x 100 = 200 (2 is in hundreds place so we have to multiply 2 and 100).

In 36985, the **place value of 6** is? The place value of 6 is 6 x 1000 = 6000 (6 is in thousands place so we have to multiply 6 and 1000).

The place value of 3 in 532 is 3 x 10 = 30 (3 is in tens place so we have to multiply 3 and 10).
