# Height of equilateral triangle formula explained

## Formula for finding height of equilateral triangle:

If the side of equilateral triangle is given as “a “units then height can be find out by using the formula

height = $\frac { \sqrt { 3 } }{ 2 }$ × a

Example problem:

The side of equilateral triangle is 18 cm then find its height.

Solution:

According to height of equilateral triangle formula

= $\frac { \sqrt { 3 } }{ 2 }$ × a

= $\frac { \sqrt { 3 } }{ 2 }$ × 18

= $\sqrt { 3 }$ × 9

= 1.732 × 9

= 15.588 cm
