Learn what are the factors of a number and **factor definition** in mathematics. Do you know based on factors only we are defining what is a prime number. In some other important concepts also we should know the meaning of a factor to understand the particular concepts very well.

Actually **Factor definition** we can give in two ways. Learn both the definitions which gives clear idea about the factor. Now we will define **definition of a factor** one by one with examples.

**Definition of factor given as below:**

If a number “e” divides the another number “f” exactly, then the number “e” is called as a **factor** of “f”. Another **definition for factor** is “if a number is written as the product of some other numbers then each number in the product is called as a **factor**.

Example:

The number “6” is factor of “18” because 6 divides 18 exactly.

The number 15, is written as the product of 3 and 5. So here each number is called as a **factor** of 15.

Now we will take some numbers and list out the factors of that number.

The factors of the number 14 are 1, 2, 7 and 14. Similarly the **factors of 12** are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.

I really loved reading your blog. It was very well authored and easy to undertand. Unlike additional blogs I have read which are really not tht good. I also found your posts very interesting. In fact after reading, I had to go show it to my friend and he ejoyed it as well!
