# Duplicate ratio definition explained with example

Learn about what is a duplicate ratio and duplicate ratio definition and understand it with some examples given below. If you want to know about duplicate ratio, first know what is a ratio? Hope you know it.

In ratios we have so many types of ratios like reciprocal ratio, duplicate ratio, subduplicate ratio, triplicate ratio, subtriplicate ratio and compounded ratio. While learning ratios it is good to learn types of ratios also. In all these ratios, first we will learn about duplicate ratio. Below i have given duplicate ratio definition just read it you will know what is mean by duplicate ratio.

## Definition of duplicate ratio as follows:

Duplicate ratio definition is given as “If P: Q is a ratio, then ${ P }^{ 2 }$:${ Q }^{ 2 }$ is called as the duplicate ratio of P: Q”. In simple way duplicate ratio is explained as finding square of numerator and also denominator for the given ratio and writing in the ratio form.

NOTE:

I recommend you that for writing duplicate ratios you should know squares and cubes up to 30, it is minimum. If you don’t know learn now.

Examples:

The duplicate ratio of 6:3 is ${ 6 }^{ 2 }$:${ 3 }^{ 2 }$ = 36: 9

Duplicate ratio of 4:14 is ${ 4 }^{ 2 }$:${ 14 }^{ 2 }$ = 16:196

If 8:2 is the ratio, then the duplicate ratio of 8:2 is ${ 8 }^{ 2 }$:${ 2 }^{ 2 }$ = 64:4 = 16:1.

25:1 is duplicate ratio of? Is it easy to say the answer? Yes it is very easy. 25:1 is duplicate ratio of the 5:1.

400:100 is the duplicate ratio of 20:10 because ${ 20 }^{ 2 }$ is 400 and ${ 10 }^{ 2 }$ is 100.

I will give some questions, if you want solve it.

Find the duplicate ratios of 9:4, 13:6, 25:12, and 30:15.

If you get the answers for the above problems, it is clear that you have understood what is duplicate ratio?
