Divisibility rule of 5 explained with examples

Learn and know what is the divisibility rule of 5 in math? This divisibility rule is very simple and easy to understand when compare to other divisibility rules.

Divisibility rule of 5 explained with examples

What are divisibility rules? In math. Divisibility rules is an important concept in mathematics which tell us whether a number is divisible or not by another number. In the lower classes, we will learn divisibility rules for the numbers like 2, 3, 4 and so on. These are the basics in math.

Divisibility rule of 5 as follows:

To check or to find out whether a number is divisible by 5 or not, we need to learn divisibility rule of 5.so now we will learn what it is. The divisibility rule of 5 is given as “if an any given number is with the unit digit as “5” or “0”, then definitely the given number is divisible by the number 5. We will understand this through some examples.

Examples:

*Let 896540 be the given number. Observe its units digit. The unit digit is “0”. So the number 896540 is divisible by the 5 exactly.

*We will consider one more number. Let the number be 601242. If we observe the unit digit, it is not “0” or it is not”5”. So the 601242 is not divisible by the number 5.

*Third example: let the given number be 47015. It is observed that the unit digit of the number is “5”. So we say that it is exactly divisible by the 5.

*Is this number 124057, divisible by the 5? As the unit digit is not either “5” or “0”, so the number 124057 is not divisible by the number 5.

*Check 5587500 is divisible by 5 or not? The unit digit in the given number is “0”, so definitely the number 5587500 is divisible by 5.

Hope the above examples help you in understanding divisibility rule of 5 in a better way.
