Divisibility rule of 2 explained with examples

Learn and know what is the divisibility rule of 2 in math. In the lower grade divisibility rules is one of the important concepts that every student should learn.

Divisibility rule of 2 explained with examples

Before 2, there is no divisibility rule. Form the number 2 onwards we will start learning divisibility rules. First thing we have to know, what is the meaning of divisibility rules of numbers. After this only we will learn what is the divisibility rule of 2. After this we will see some examples and find out which numbers are divisible by the 2 and which are not divisible by the 2 in detail.

What is mean by divisibility rules?

Divisibility rules or divisibility test both are same only. So the meaning of divisibility rule is that it is a rule by which we will get an idea about whether a number is divisible by a particular number or not.

The divisibility rule of 2 as follows:

To check any number is divisible by 2 or not, we have see that the given number units digit should be 0 or 2 or 4 or 6 or 8. If the given number contains any of these digits then we say the given number is divisible by the 2.

If the unit’s digit of any number is multiple of 2 then also we can say that the given number is divisible by 2. Like this also we say the divisibility rule of 2.

Examples:

Let us consider one number. Let the number be 2356841. Observe the number; its unit’s digit is 1. So the number 2356841 is not divisible by 2. Because, if the unit digit of given number is 0 or 2 or 4 or 6 or 8 then only we say the number is divisible by the 2.

Now see this number 2378941038. As it is having unit digit as 8, we say that the number is divisible by 2 because it is satisfying divisibility rule of 2.

See the below given numbers and say they are divisible by 2 or not.
