Whenever we are performing division process with any specified values we observe that there will be four words i.e. quotient, divisor, dividend and remainder. In the division process we all know what is remainder in that division, if anyone asks what is the remainder we say that remainder is 7 or 8 like that some number we will say. Remainder meaning as follows:

Remainder meaning is that “The value that was left after the division process completes is called the remainder”. Generally, the remainder will be always less than the divisor.

Note:

If the dividend is the multiple of divisor then in that division process the remainder will be exactly zero.

Examples:

If we divide 8 by the number 5, after the division process we observe that it was left with 3. The left number 3 is called as a remainder in that division.

The number 15 if it is divided by 15, as it divides exactly. So in the division process it is left with zero. So in this case the value of remainder is exactly 0.

30 is divided by 7 then what is the remainder we get? Below 30 the multiple of 7 is 28. So subtract 28 from 30, we get 2, which is the remainder.

The number 59 is divided by 9 then remainder? Multiple of 9 below 59 is 54. So subtract 54 from 59, we get 5, which is the remainder.
